Committees
Worship - Russ Grimes, Ben Thompson
Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness . . .
Psalm 96:9
The Worship Committee works closely with the Pastor to see that the worship services run smoothly and in accordance with the Book of Order. Also, Worship is responsible for securing a substitute preacher in the absence of the Pastor.
In addition, this committee is responsible for both nurseries, the music program, flowers, preparing the elements for communion, and ushers. Each week a volunteer from this committee prepares the sanctuary for worship: changes the paraments to the proper liturgical color, changes the candles when appropriate, sees that the pencils in the pews are sharpened, removes old bulletins left from the prior week, etc.
Christian Education - Dianne Burris, Meg Barclay
Continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:14
In cooperation with Mike Weiglein, our Director of Youth and Children’s Ministries, the CE Committee strives to provide a wide variety of educational opportunities for all age groups. The major emphasis is the weekly Sunday School program: recruiting and training teachers and selecting curriculum. In addition, CE oversees the Middle and High School Youth Programs, Vacation Bible School, Mid-Week Children’s program and the Bethel Bible Study program. Special events include the Advent Wreath-Making Dinner, Christmas and Easter pageants and the High School Graduates’ breakfast.
Fellowship - Kaki Payne, Susan Mathis
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayer.
Acts 2:42

- Annual events such as Thanksgiving Dinner; All Church Picnic
- Potluck Family Night Dinners
- Fellowship outside the church (Dinner Four)
This committee also initiates new activities as desirable, such as a recent Pig Roast; organizes and recruits hosts for Sunday Fellowship Hour; and monitors the kitchen:
- Keep inventory of kitchen supplies
- Purchase supplies
- Keep kitchen stocked
The Fellowship Committee encourages the entire congregation to join the various
functions.
Facilities/Buildings & Grounds - Ben Powell
We will not neglect the house of our God.
Nehemiah 10:39
The primary focus of this committee is to oversee the maintenance and improvements to the Meadows facility. The committee sets priorities of need against the resources available. It is responsible for securing acceptable bids for cleaning the facility, snow removal, lawn care, heat and air conditioning services. The committee plans for and coordinates any major capital improvements to the facilities.
Christian Outreach - Lynne Foster, Hal Lippard
Then the King will reply, “I tell you the truth whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me”
Matthew 25:45
The Christian Outreach/Evangelism Committee administers Meadows’ financial support for organizations which provide housing, feeding programs and family relationship assistance for those in need in this community, state, country and globally. The committee also directs the congregation’s “hands-on” assistance to local programs including the Emergency Food Bank (housed in our church building), Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Advancing Native Missions, Samaritan’s Purse and District 1 mission projects. There is a Local Benevolence Fund which provides loans to congregation members in acute need which is funded by a line item in this committee’s budget.

Administration/Personnel/Finance - Jerry Carpenter
And he (Jesus Christ) is the head of the body, the church, he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so in everything he might have the supremacy.
- Colossians 1:18
Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Luke 6:38
The Administration Committee is responsible for administrative procedures, operation of the church office and administrative support of all other functions of the church. The Personnel Committee creates and administers personnel policies, recruits staff and sets staff salaries. Finance is responsible for financial planning, accounting and reports, receipts and disbursement procedures and audits of procedures and finances.
Stewardship - Rick Gangloff
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:19-21
The Stewardship Committee is responsible to lead the Meadows’ congregation in understanding the Scriptural foundation for personal stewardship of God’s blessings in our lives, and in encouraging ongoing growth in our joyful commitments of time, talent and financial resources; all for the glory of God and in response to His call to serve others.
Congregational Membership - Marlyn Hochstetler
Go therefore
and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19
The Membership Committee is responsible for attracting and welcoming new members and then helping them find their place within the Meadows Presbyterian Church community. This committee also reviews membership roles annually and encourages those not currently active.
Nurture - Drene DeGood
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of all compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
2 Corinthians 1:4
The Nurture Committee strives to care for members of the Meadows Church family. Their ministry is to reach out to those who may be experiencing physical, emotional or spiritual needs. This is done by visitation, delivering meals, and mentoring new members. The concerns of the church and its members are offered in prayer through the Prayer Chain organized by the Nurture Committee.
The committee also prepares Valentine’s Day “care packages” for our college students and sends birthday cards to all church members. The committee’s desire is to provide hope and encouragement to all of our church family.
The Nurture Committee has launched two exciting ministries in recent years, the Stephen Ministry which is having a quiet but significant impact in the area of Christian Caregiving within the life of our church; and the Prayer Connection which is a ministry which ensures that each child of our congregation is prayed for each day by name by a member of the church. |
